How to Bath the Papillon

The Papillon Bath Start to Finish

Best Kept Secrets from the Experts on Papillon Groming and Bathing

To Keep from getting Ear infections Rubbing Alcohol in each ear and Rub... They will shake out any extra

Test the Water Temp each Time.

Continue to test the water temperature while bathing as it can change

Wet the Dog from Top down and From Head to Tail

Tip the nose gently towards the ground to avoid getting water in ears or up the nose

Mix the Shampoo with water to Dilute it. I use 1/2oz of shampoo  to 10oz of water to mix in spray bottle

I always use a spray bottle as i can get more even coverage

Frasier Essential products are the only product line we have found that doesn't dry out the coat and is very healthy for the caut because of the essential oils used

Shampoo in a spary bottle allows better control over the process like on face and ears

Scrub coat the way the hair grows to avoid tangles

on a clean dog you should only use about 2oz of mixed shampoo.

If the dog is not clean it will require much more shampoo...

IF you cannot clean the whole dog with about a dime size amount of shampoo Repeat process until you can

Use as much shampoo as it takes to suds up really good... Rinse and try again. Repeat steps until you can shampoo whole dog with 2oz of mixed shampoo

The Papillon Bath - Rinse and Conditioner

Rinse shampoo bottle so you can mix Conditioner.

I use about 1oz of Conditioner to 8oz of water mixed in a spray bottle

When Rinsing the dog start with Top down and front to back concept. Start with the Head.

Make sure to test water temp!

You have to have your hands in the coat to tell. Make sure all soap is rinsed out well. Water should run clear with no bubbles or suds

Spray conditioner everywhere and Scrub the coat with the soft brush

use a brush and comb while rinsing to pull out any dead hair.

The water and conditioner will loosen dead coat and you will be able to have less shedding

After you have rinsed while combing, Rinse again with your hands in the coat. Your hands will feel any missed product still in the coat

Rinse again

Rinse until no Suds in the Tub Floor

IF shampoo or conditioner is left in the coat this causes hotspots and irritation on skin

So Rinse and Rinse again

I usually use 2 or 3 towels to get them as dry as I can with a towel

Then its time to Blow Dry
